This new one-story facility provided long-needed services to the underserved South Central Los Angeles area. One feature that helped make the project feasible was the use of the roof as an energy-saving solar collector.

Challenges and Opportunities: In the grand opening ceremony officiated by Mayor Hahn, SMC was presented with the Meritorious Achievement Award for our outreach program from the Los Angeles Board of Public Works. This library is one of only a handful of the 36 Library Bond Program projects to be delivered ahead of schedule.
